extracting Address Book contents from Outlook?

I have a client who wants to extract (copy, not delete) all contacts,
especially the Categories field, and export to a tab-delimited text file
for manipulation in another application.

Environment is Outlook 2000 (SR1) on Exchange Server 2000.

I'm not familiar with Outlook, except as an infrequent user. Is there a
way to do this?
 
What about using the File | Import and Export command?
