I have a WinXP pro PC in a domain.

I would like to connect a 320GB External USB Drive to this PC for storing
the users documents.

Because I'm concerned about the drive failing, I would like to have the
documents cached or synchronized with the PC.

I have connected my drive and attempted to create "Offline" files or folders
on the drive but have been unsuccessful.

Can someone please tell me if what I want to do is possible? And if so, how?
If not possible, is there another way to get the same effect.

Simple. Use Microsoft's free SyncToy. I use it to synch my laptop with my
desktop when arriving from work. I love it. If you want it to happen
automatically buy a program like Second Copy.
