External USB 2.0 Hub on A7N8X Deluxe Ver.2

Hi,

I would like to use my external USB 2.0 Slim Hub. But my new Mainboard
(A7N8X Deluxe Ver.2) only wants to use the 6 USB Ports. The Power LED on my
external USB Hub is on, but Windows XP Pro SP1 could not find the hub.
I´ve tried the Windows and the drivers from the ASUS CD ROM. I´ve plugged
the hub on each USB Port (1 to 6), without any reason.

Could anybody help me out?

Regards

I take it you have plugged devices into the hub and they haven't worked?

Every hub I have ever used has never been seen by windows til I plugged
something into it.
Is it a powered(own psu)hub or non powered.

This is what I was thinking... looks like he was expecting it to do
something on its own and when nothing happened, gave up instead of actually
plugging in a device and trying it.

Reckon so.
Powered hubs are just that, a box with USB ports and a psu to supply the 5v
or so needed.
Passive ones are as above but use the 5v line that supplies the regular
ones.
That said, a hub is just seen as another USB port when plugged in to one one
the PC.
It may show as found new hardware if the hub has a controller chip.
Like I said, anytime I have used USB hubs there is nothing to show for them
until something is plugged in.
I guess some people will always expect something to happen if they just
connect one and do not try to plug anything in.
Also under windows XP unless you uncheck(disable)power saving mode for each
USB root hub in control panel then when not in use windows turns off power
to that hub and in turn anything connected.
That is when(if nothing is in use or connected)that port is now turned off
and so will not be seen by the OS.

Hi,

the hub is no powered. The LED is on (red=inactive), i´ve tried it
with a usb stick and my printer, but the OS couldn´t find them.
I think, that the hub is OK, because I have no problems with this hub
on my old ASUS P3B-F and Win XP Pro.

Ok.
What USB port on the pc is it connected to(plugged in)?
Looking at the back of the pc is it in 1, or 2 at the top or 1 or 2 on the
next pair or 1 or 2 on the front of case USB ports(if you are using them)
Also do you have anything else connected?

I´ve connected the hub on Port 2, 5 and 6, but nothing works.
When I connected the USB Stick or another USB device on a Port, everthing
works fine. Only the external Hub would not work.
