External Monitor Configuration Crashes on Reboot - Help!

I have an HP Omnibook Notebook Xe3.

I am using the latest Intel 82830M drivers.

Whenever I take advantage of the external or Dual monitor
configurations in XP it works fine until I reboot. When I reboot, the
system crashes and keeps rebooting until I unplug the external monitor
and it uses the LCD display only.

When I plug the external monitor in again it works ok until the next
reboot.

This is frustrating. Any ideas?
