external monitor and laptop

I use a Dell laptop (ATI Mobility 128 AGP) and want to conect an external
monitor but I have no "settings-tab" to click on in the display-window. Why
is it so?

(I use a non-english OS so the words can be wrong but I hope you understand
me anyway)

Hi,

Either you have insufficient privileges on your account (using a limited
acct or it has been blocked by a system administrator in a group policy), or
you do not have a full driver set installed. The Windows default driver will
not contain this added function, you need a full driver set from the video
card or laptop manufacturer.

Hi,

Connecting an external monitor to a laptop requires no special setttings. I
fyou loot at your laptop keyboard, you just need to hit the Fn key + (either
F5 or F8 key) to change to external display. May vary depending on the Dell
model. I have my notebook hooked to external display all the time and never
had to change anything in the display settings.
