External Insertion Point in a Template

Hi all,
I have a Word 2003 template that has a TOC, some setup information, a
place for text to be inserted and some appendixes and a revision page.
I have an external program (Doors) that can use this template and
insert the text. The external program appends the text to the end of
the document.

How do I make the template know where incoming text is to be placed?

You need to inquire of the Doors people how their application works and
what it expects.

You need to inquire of the Doors people how their application works and
what it expects.

I did a near simultaneous post in each of the two forums. I was hoping
someone with knowledge would give me a hint.
