External Hardrive

Aftern installing external USB hard drive the drive letter does not appear.
device Manager sees it in the list but still no drive letter. Can anyone
suggest why

The drive is likely blank. Right Click My Computer, Left Click Manage.
In the Computer Management Console Left pane - Click Disk management.
Locate the drive number and look at the bar, it will show the content of
the drive. If it says "Unallocated" then the drive is essentially empty.
You'll
need to Right click on the Unallocated space to get the Context menu
where you can create/format partitions to your liking. Using a Basic disk
you'll be limited to 4 Primary partitions so spend a few minutes figuring
out how you want to segment and size each partition.
