external harddrive does not appear!

i purchased a new western digital usb 2.0 external harddrive (model
#WD800B008-RNN), after hookup xp installed the driver.
when i look in 'my computer' it does not appear, but when i look in the
device manager or drive management it shows up as 'WDC USB2 drive O:.
what can i do to make this drive appear in 'my computer' so i can access
it?

Right click on My Computer and select Manage. On the following screen,
click on Disk Management.

The new drive should show up on the right hand side of the screen from where
you can partition and format it, then assign it a drive letter.

No version of Windows Explorer can 'see' an unformatted drive.

Go to Admin panel and in disk manager ,change the

assigned drive to e: or f:
