external hard disk

I'm using a laptop (Windows XP) and just bought an external hard disk case
(3.5 inch) and a 160GB hard disk (7200rpm, ATA). Now my problem is that
when i connect the case to my laptop, the drive cannot be located under "MY
COMPUTER" but can detect my external storage device. Can anyone help me?

If you're asking how, I highly doubt that you did it.
In the control panel, go to computer management and then disk management.

Something is causing your "I"s to show as "i"s.
Also you need to change the default settings of OE.
