Ext Buffalo USB drive problem

HI,
I have just got a new Buffalo 500GB Drive station combo to use on my desktop
computer. I had the drive set to power on when the computer was booted up, and
switch off when the comp was turned off. I could boot up the computer then
after the windows splash screen had loaded the buffalo would start up. However
for the past couple of days when I boot up the computer it will not go past
the bios post, but if I turn the buffalo off the computer will continue to
boot up. Also the buffalo is plugged into a self powered USB hub.

Anyone had a similar problem, or any suggestions as to what it could be.

Thanks

Try connecting direct to the computer and not to a hub, even if it is a
powered one.

Do you have any errors showing in Device Manager?

No Errors. The Buffalo is showing up under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers"
as a USB mass storage device. It is also showing up under "Disk Drives" as a
Hitachi USB Device.
