Exporting mass MS Word and Excell OLE's to seperate MS Word and Excell files from Access 97 DB

Dear Readers,

I am intern at an IT company. I have been given a task to extract MS
Word and Excell files, stored as OLE's in a MS Access 97 database.
There are several hundred files, so I was wondering if there was a way
to automate a process to extract them into one directory. They need to
be in there own prospective files and formats (.doc and .xls). Thanks
in advance.

Dear Mr. Nurick,

Thank you for advice. I am going to try to convert the DB to Access
2000. I keep running into a few problems when trying to do so though.
I'm sure if its a problem, but in Access 97, I am prompted that the DB
has reached its maximum size. When I try to open it in Access 2000, it
won't convert. Here's the prompt it gives me:

The current user account doesn't have permission to convert or enable
this database.

Here's a picutre of the window:

I am very new to databases, so I've been playing around with the
permissions to the DB in Access 97, but to no avail.

Hi Frosty,

You need to compact the database if it's getting near its maximum size. For
Access 97, that is 1 GB (i.e. about 1,000,000 KB as shown in Windows
Explorer). Before you compact it, make sure you have a fresh backup copy -
and preserve that in case the problems you've been having are signs of
anything more serious in the database.

If you're working at a company that knows its stuff, there may well be
security on the database that will prevent you converting it to another
version of Access. Check with the person who owns the database, or the
network administrator.
