Exporting contacts to Excel

Hi! I need to export a contacts file with many entries into an Excel or
Access file. I have been totally unsuccessful in exporting into Access and my
efforts to export into Excel only transfers a couple of fields. I've read
several other threads trying to find the answer and only come up with more
questions.

1. What is a pst file?
2. If I attempt to use word for a mail merge, I cannot find an outlook
file. How do I do that?
3. I also tried the "copy vs export" suggestions and the it seems to freeze
my computer. Even if I try to copy only 10 contacts at a time, it still does
not work.

All answers and suggestions will be appreciated.

Outlook data is all held in a single .PST file. All Contacts, emails,
meetings etc are in 1 file, usually Outlook.pst.

You are attempting the mailmerge from Word. Don't. Start by selecting the
Contacts you want to merge, then |Tools | Mailmerge and at the bottom of the
screen set it for new or existing document or email. Click OK and word will
start up. use the Merge Fields buttons NOT the Word Fields button to find
the fields to put in the document.

If this is all about being able to email then this should do the trick ( I
don't know the answer to your third problem!!)

Hi Nancy,
Try "IMI Contacts Exporter" from
http://www.imibo.com/imidev/Exchange/imice.htm - Exports Contacts to MS
Access 2000 table or MS Excel file.
The version of "IMI Contacts Exporter" that is available for download is
free and fully functional, but you can use it only 15 days without
registration.

Regards,
Iv
