Exporting Access 97 external file into Excel 2000

I have Access 97, which my reports are built on, but also have Excel 2000.
When I click File - Save As/Export... and choose To an External File I cannot
choose Save As Type of Excel - it is not a choice.
Is there a work around or a patch or ???

hi,
based on my experience, exporting an access report to
excel is not wise. the report format gets scattered all
over excel.
my work around was to just export the record source.
several options: macro>transferspredsheets.
docmd.transferspreadsheets. or just run the query form the
database window then file>save as. excel then becomes a
choice.
