Exported e-mail address has SMTP after address

When exporting contacts from Outlook to Excel the email address has SMTP
immediately following the address. i.e. (e-mail address removed). When I
try to send e-mails in a mail merge, Outlook will not send them because it
doesn't like the format. What can I do to avoid this problem? Thank you.

Try doing a Find and Replace in Excel. Find smtp, replace with nothing.
