I created a table in Word 2002 which I now want to export
to Excel 2002. I want to keep the cells of the table
intact in Excel so I can sort the table. How can I
accomplish this?

You can copy the table by the copy and paste method. Hold down Alt, double
click on any cell in Word to select the entire table, then hit Ctrl C to
copy. Open a new Excel workbook or sheet tab in an existing workbook; click
on cell A1 and hit Ctrl V to copy. Save your work before proceeding. You may
have to do some reformatting, and may have to rework any formulas that
appeared in the Word table. You will also have to adjust column widths and
row heights, wrap cells, fix number formats, etc.
