When I used Win2000, I click on 'Start' and expand the 'Start Menu'.
I naviate to an item in the 'Start Menu'. I can right click and
change the properties of the item.

However, in WinXP, I cannot do that. Right click does nothing.

Is there a setting I can turn this feature on or is it a feature of XP
? Thanks.

You may have set
System USER Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer Remove Windows Explorer's default context menu At least Microsoft Windows 2000 """Removes shortcut menus from the desktop and Windows Explorer. Shortcut menus
appear when you right-click an item. If you enable this setting, menus do not appear when you right-click the desktop or when you right-click the items in Windows Explorer. This setting does not prevent users from using other methods to
issue commands available on the shortcut menus.""" HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer!NoViewContextMenu

No. I did not set the value for NoViewContextMenu. This value does
not exist in my registry. Yet I still cannot have the context menu
when I right click !

There is a group policy for this saw it yesterday. Don't ask me exactly where don't remember but I did see it
Turn off Context Menus in Explorer. This policy (and how it is applied) is dependent on whether you are in a
domain or not.

Normally when I get behavior such as this I reinstall Microsoft Internet Explorer. (6 XP - ???)
