Explorers Preview pane folders open in "Search Files & Folders

While attempting to review and open folders from Windows
2000 Explorer window preview pane (seperate window to the
right of Explorer) the folders will automaticly open in
the " Search for files and folders window.

I searched the KB and there were no specific answers to
this issue.

I am looking for the registry key that I believe will
correct the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know about a reg key, but I'm pretty sure Windows Explorer will open
the folder using the settings saved in the registry from the last time
Explorer was closed.

So, open windows explorer, make it look how you like, close it.

Then start your process and see how it operates.

Hi Brian,

This problem can be caused by using Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types [tab]
to modify the action for N/A Drive or N/A File Folder. If this is the cause of you
problem try solving it by performing the steps in the following Microsoft Knowledge
Base Article. Note: Although the article is written for Windows XP, I have used it
to solve the problem on my Win2000 box.

KB321186 - Search Companion Starts If You Double-Click a Folder
