When I set my browser to www.msn.com and hit apply it
closes as it should and that's fine. Then when I open up
IE by clicking on the desktop icon it goes to " about
blank " which is a search engine. How do I stop it from
doing that ? Sounds like some site put a link attached to
the url when it opens up but can't seem to locate it. Help.

sounds like a hijacker. some are hard to get rid of. run
spybot 1.3 and adware 6.0 might help. cwsredder might get
rid of it. pest patrol is good.

This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware, parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
