Is there a way of setting a default view of the drives
etc:
i.e. I would like my "My Computer" to default
to "Collapsed" not "Expanded" when I go into the explorer
view.
In the old days it would open up in the same view as you
closed it.

Create a new shortcut for the Windows Explorer with the command-line
EXPLORER.EXE /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
and put it into the Start Menu or onto the Desktop.
