Explorer windows where games are kept is not working

Hi,

I just installed Windows Vista a couple days ago and have been loading
programs and games over the last two days. When I click on the start button
and then on the games tab on the right column of the start menu, it opens up
a games folder (I guess this is called the "Game Explorer"?) containing the
game icon and link to that game. Well now I get the following error message
when I click on any of them:

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel."

OK, it doesn't matter what icon I click on, I get the same message. It
happens for windows games (ie-Minesweeper) or games I've installed myself
(ie-Crysis).

Furthermore, I can go into the start button the old fashion way and the game
starts fine. (ie - Start-> All Programs -> Games).

I can't figure out how to correct this error. If I drag a working link into
this folder, then the link stops working.

I used system restore to go back to the time of the clean install and had to
reload everything one at a time. Each time I would check to make sure the
game explorer would still be working. Well, it worked until I installed the
Microsoft Flight Simulator Acceleration Expansion Pack. Now it is back to
this error message. I am now at my wits end as I have spent the last 3 days
loading program and reloading programs but nobody has ever heard of this
problem.

Any ideas?

You've answered your own question!

Don't install the Flight Simulator Pack.
