Explorer very slow for "My Computer"

Whenever i select "My Computer" in Explorer, it needs 40 sec to respond. The
same delay appears in every File-Dialog, if i try to change the directory.
XP-Home; No network; No network-folder connected; For test i disconnected all
other drives (floppy, CD) => same result. So the only subdirectories of "My
Computer" are the harddisk "C:" and the folder "network". The harddisk is
nearly empty and contains no big *.zip-files. If i open the drive "C:"
directly in explorer via shortcut, i get an immediate response, the same for
the folder "network". Viewing the process in taskmanger i see, that no
further process is started, 98% of CPU is "on idle". The explorer seems to
wait for something. For what?
