Haddisk led blinking

Hi,
A few weeks ago I have seen that my harddisk led (in case) blinking nearly 1
sec. periods when my pc is idle. This is really new! I haven't seen it
before. It may be related with indexing future; it's closed. No antivirus
program running (I closed for test)!

Do you have any advice, It's not good because; harddisk is getting hot, It
may be a virus (I'm not sure But I have a good AV program, I searched my
harddisk. There is no virus).

I have a home network (when the other pc was closed, I'm sure, not any other
pc connected my pc).

Do you advice anything or know about the reason of this? Explorer.exe
reading(or writting) and some other 2 exe is reading/writting HD. Those all
from XP library.
I want to stop it!

Two common answers are the autorun feature is checking the CD/DVD player for
changes, or XP is doing housecleaning.
Irregardless, there is some ide activity noted by the LED.
