Hello!

After starting my computer on, and when it reaches the desktop, and when I
try to go to My Computer for the first time after booting, a "torch light
searhing" animation shows, and takes about a minute and a half to display my
drives.

What could be the problem? I formatted my hard drive and installed Win XP
SP1 again.

TIA

Hi,

Start/run msconfig and disable Windows Image Acquisition on the services
tab. Click apply/ok and reboot, see if this helps.

Remove any CD/DVD disks from the respective drives. Try it again. I have a
small handful of disks that cause the same problem. Explorer is searching
them for information and has trouble finding any (in a timely fashion).
