Running XP home, some times when I click an icon on my desktop, all of the
other icons disappear, including the Sys Tray for about five seconds, when
they return, seven of the ten Sys Tray icons are missing and wont return
until I reboot.I've checked for spyware with Adaware and Spybot any
sudegestions

If you were to look in the Event Viewer, you would see a message that the
Shell stopped.
I have no idea why this happens.

It's a real PITA - it's been happening for me ever since the most recent
Automatic Update.

I was hoping someone would reply to you with a fix............

I am still working on the problem, I have just tried to do a System Restore,
to try and get around it, but after two attempts in which it failed to
restore to an earlier date, I now may have another problem!!

Found the problem myself !! open any folder, click on Tools, Options,
remove the check mark from," Open each folder in it's own window" put a
check mark in "Open each folder in the same window", click Apply and OK,
Good luck.

Good luck! I've had the same problem for weeks, my "Open each folder in the
same window" has always been checked.
