Explorer opne drive very slow

hI?

New XP Pro installed.
Everything seems OK, except when I open a drive in explorer "My Computer"
view or a folder, it opens very slowly ( taht is instantly displays the
window, but populates it slowly with teh contents of drive / folder with the
"torch" symbol displayed in the window

Any idea why this could happen or how try to correct

Yep that worked ! Desactivated WIA service ( no photo / scanner connected).
Now can access fast and normally.
Does desactivation of WIA prohibit use of a scanner later on that PC ?

Yes, WIA service is responsible for digital cameras and scanners management (WIA compatible, of course).
