Explorer no longer sees some USB devices

I have 2 MP3 players that all of a sudden do not show up under MY COMPUTER
with Windows Explorer. When I plug them in, I get the sound indicating the
system sees them. other USB devices continue to be recognized. I am running
XP SP3. The three system changes I recently made are: 1) update Norton to
2009 internet security, 2) installed the Microsoft updates 3) installed
Magic Jack.

Is one of my recent updates responsible? The Sansa MP3 is one I regularly
plug in and update with podcasts 3 or 4 days a week and have not had
problems with it until today. My USB hard drive and USB printer and several
flash memory sticks continue to operate ok.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Does anything turn up in the Event Viewer Logs?

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.
