Explorer menu missing

R

Raffaele Croci

I have done an image based on Winlog and Explorer shell having a look of a
standard XP for generic use and setup before
To minimize footprint I have excluded IE and Active Desktop doesn't run.
The image runs in a CF with EWF protection ram based ( but in HD it's the
same).
Even if Desktop icons are enabled in the "User Interface Core" settings,
they are still hided because registry HideIcons and HidedesktopIcons are set
to 1. It's strange but I can overcome.
The strange behavior I'm unable to understand is that in the Explorer and
Control Panel windows the menu bar is empty with a windows logo centered.
Does anyone can give help about this? Thanks
Raffaele Croci

Raffaele ,

Could the "Primitive: Browselc" component be missed from your image by any chance?

You may know this already but to show desktop icons set manually (or in late FBA phase) the following registry entries:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced],"HideIcons"=dword:00000000
My Computer, My Documents, My Network Places and Internet Explorer icons:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu]
"{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}"=dword:00000000
"{208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000
"{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000

Raffaele,

Check the Standard Start Menu Shortcut Component
Resource section. Make sure the links that you want to see
are enabled. I have noticed that these links are the ones
that display in control panel. If you disable these in the
Standard Start Menu Shortcut Component they will show up as
windows icons as you are describing in the control panel.
Also, in the User Interface Core component make sure you
have Show context menu on Shell Folders checked. This will
give you the context menu when you right click on a folder.
I hope this is what you were looking for.

I have been confusing about problem description melting two items.
The first one: Desktop icons enabled in the "User Interface Core" settings,
can be solved by manual modify of registry settings. I'll try to force the
settings in TD.
The second one: the menu bar empty has been solved adding browselc.dll. The
primitive Browselc was missing and in my config must be forced.
Thanks for your help
