Hi everyone,

When Windows starts up, only the background shows because
explorer.exe is taking 100% of the CPU usage and
everything grinds to a halt. Even after hours,
explorer.exe is still trying to open. Does anyone know
what the problem with explorer is? Thanks!

Try re-booting into safe mode, or the "last known good
configuration" option. Then run a virus scan, and mayby
run system file checker too, start, run, type; sfc /scannow.

Hi,
scan your system with latest virus definitioned antivirus/spybot search
and destroy/adaware.
look here:-'Explorer.exe Process Uses Many CPU Cycles When Windows Is Idle'

Have you installed Service pack? This problem was first corrected in
Windows XP Service Pack 1.
update Windows as well as drivers.
