I installed IE7 beta 2. When I restarted, explorer.exe doesn't start. I have
error message that says "Windows Explorer has encountered and error and
needs to close". Then I have the desktop with nothing on it. No start button
or anything. I want to unistall IE7 beta 2 but can't. I can open programs
from the 'run' program by doing a ctrl-alt-delete and File|New Task. But any
system program I try to run can't be found. I tried to run the control panel
("rundll.32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL appwiz.cpl") but it won't run and
an error says the file is not available at that location. Can't boot in Safe
Mode either. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

The Command Line is...

rundll32 shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL appwiz.cpl

Can you boot into Safe Mode Command Prompt? If you can, do:
c:\Windows\System32\restore\rstrui.exe [enter]

This will start System Restore so you can restore to a date before you
installed a beta program. Please understand that "beta" means software
that isn't finished yet and is still in the bug-checking phase. You
should never install beta software on a production machine and/or on
any computer that you are unwilling to wipe and start over.

For further questions regarding the beta IE 7, please post in the
newsgroup specifically for that program. I believe this is the one that
is being used for IE 7 posts:
