(Explorer.exe) SHELL32.DLL Access Violation Error

D

David Earle

Recently Explorer.exe has been crashing on me (about 2 or
3 times a day). I get this error:

The instruction at "0x783b7a22" referenced memory
at "0x77e1342f". The memory could not be "written".

When I press cancel, this comes up:

Unhandled exception in explorer.exe (SHELL32.DLL):
0xC0000005: Access Violation.

I also noticed that some times when I open Internet
Explorer, it freezes up. Then when I right-click it in the
task bar, it'll update its last actions (if it's loading
the start-up page), then will freeze again. Then the same
thing happens if I right-click it in the task bar again.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with Explorer.exe
crashing, but any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks.
