What happens if you boot to safe mode, then shut down?
When did the problem begin, after installing removing hardware / software?
Scan for viruses.
control panel > admin tools > event viewer > check the logs for errors.
Right click an error. Left click properties. When you find an error
associated with your problem, note the eventID and details. Search at www.eventid.net and / or your favorite search engines.
