Hi
I wonder if anyone can help/has any ideas re the following:

All afternoon today, my system goes through phases where
EVERYTHING goes extremely slow. (pc is P4-2.8, 512 ram,
400 gig hdd's).

When i see which processes are running, i can see that
explorer.exe is taking anything between 60mb and 120mb of
memory and the cpu is running around 90-95%.

I've rebooted etc., all seems fine, then it starts again.
Nothing changes when i close down all other running app's.

Just click and wait all the time

Any ideas and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks
Steve

How long has it been since you have defragmented your hard drive? This could
be a case of program fragmentation, which would cause it to work extra hard
to run Explorer.exe, also you might try running SpyBot S&D and/or AdAware to
see if you might possibly have some hidden spyware running.
