Explorer.EXE - Application Error (memory at "0x00000000")

Hi,

I am getting the following error in my Win2K Adv Server (SP4). This
error comes when I try to do a File - PASTE operation in Windows
Explorer. But it doesn't come for all paste operations. It suddenly
comes for some paste operations only.

The memory address is always constant "0x00000000". If I click on OK,
it terminates and I cannot see the TaskBar and cannot start any new
programs. All the programs which were already running keep running
without any problem.

-------------------------------------
Explorer.EXE - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
-------------------------------------

Can somebody help me to fix the above problem.

Regards,
Kamlesh

I had a LOT of problems once I installed SP4. It got to
the point where I had to get rid of it to run smoothly
again.

Hopefully, you installed SP4 WITH the archive feature so
it can be removed. Only try this if it is archived. If
you decide to remove the archived version, it is very
important to remove it IN SAFE MODE ONLY. I did it, and
then reinstalled SP3, so I know it can be done.

Good luck!

John, I cannot see anything recorded in event log. I checked the
System/Application/Security logs.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.. But I cannot rollback to SP3. This is
because I have installed some software which is dependant on SP4.
