I walked into my office to find an error message window
open that said:"Explorer has encountered error and must
close".> I sent the error report and my screen icons
flashed off, and then back on again. Since then I have
been unable to open or run any programs at all. I have
restarted my comp. many times to no avail. Everytime I
try to open something, the hour glass comes up, the
screen icons flash off and back on again, and nothing
happens. Anyone have an idea of what is going on? My
comp. is totally useless at the moment.

Boot into Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key and try
performing a System Restore.

1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.
2. Click Start and then click All Programs.
3. Click Accessories.
4. Click System Tools and then click System Restore.
System Restore
will start.
5. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore
my computer to
an earlier time and then click Next.
6. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most
recent system
checkpoint in the "On this list, click a restore
point" list and
then click Next. A System Restore message may appear
listing the
configuration changes that System Restore will make.
Click OK.
7. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click
Next. System
Restore will restore the previous Windows XP
configuration and
restart the computer.
8. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System
Restore
Restoration Complete page will appear.
9. Click OK.

You may also do a virus check if possible.
