Explorer Error Message

Tommy

Every time I connect (dial-up) to the web I receive an
IExplore error message and it will not let me access the
web. I am running Windows 98 with Explorer 6.0. The
following information is provided with the error message.

Error Signature -
AppName: Iexplore.exe
App.Ver: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 4.10.0.1998
Offset: 0000a370
Exception Info -
Code: 0xc0000005
Flags:0x00000000
Record: 0x0000000000
Address: 0xffffffffbff7a379

When I connect to the internet, a pop-up window comes up
that states "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close." The window also asks if I
want to send an error message. Either option I select
(Send or Don't Send) brings up another pop-up window
titled "IExplore" and says that this program has performed
an illegal operation and will be shut down. When I close
this window, Internet Explorer is still connected, based
on the icon in the lower right corner. These two windows
pop up repeatedly as I acknowledge them.

It looks like I am connected to the internet but the error
will not let me view it. Can you let me know how I can
correct this error message?

Tommy,
The first step to resolve your problem:
Control Panel | Internet Options | Advanced [tab]
Uncheck: "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)"
Click Apply\Ok and restart.

If this allows IE to start, see:

Don't forget to re-enable the "3rd browser extensions" option (if used)
Many legit applications use that option also.
