Hi There

I had been having a problem with an Explorer error after
installing SP2. Opening some folders would cause explorer
to crash with a message error 0x00000000 The memory could
not be "written".

In case anyone else is having this problem, it seems that
the presence of new .avi movies as thumbnail files in a
folder customised as picture or photo album causes the
problem. It seemed explorer had problems loading the
first frame of the movie to show as a thumbnail, and
instead crashes.

It may have been influenced by my actions in recently
patching Nero, in which all .avi were reassigned to Nero's
movie player and which seemed to reset the image on
all .avi files.

I find customising the folder as a "document" folder seems
to fix the problem, and subsequently I can open the folder
as a picture or album folder.

Regards

I have had the same problem and I found some another fix on here that seemed
to work and that is turning off the thumbnails by going to a command prompt
and typing
regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
