I'm running WIN2K, and all of a sudden when I booted up my desktop didn't
load. I don't get my start button or toolbar or anything. I've been able
to run software and programs via the task manager, but that is getting real
old, real fast. I don't want to reinstall windows and loose all the files on
my desktop. Any ideas?

If you can start Explorer.exe from the task manager then probably there
is a line missing or altered in your registry. This should be in there:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
"Shell"="Explorer.exe"

If the key is there and Explorer doesn't start properly see:

No Desktop or Blank Desktop After Logging On to Windows 2000

If no joy try repairing or reinstalling Internet Explorer.
