Hi

I am using XPe SP2 on a PC with a USB CD-ROM connected. When I start
explorer.exe it is not able to browse the CD or do anything with the CD.
The CD-ROM is just spinning like there is an error on the CD. But if I
start a DOS BOX, I am able access the CD from the DOS BOX without any
problems.

Explorer.exe does work on the harddisk without any problems.

Anyone who knows what is wrong?

Best regards

Kuhre,

Do you have driver support for CD-ROM, USB?
Also make sure that you have CDFS component.

Plese check setupapi.log for PnP errors and you can zip it and post it in this NG as well so we can check it.

Hi Slobodan,

Thank you for your answer.

Yes I have a driver for the USB CD-ROM and I have the CDFS component.
The funny thing about my problem is that the CD-ROM works fine when I try to
access it from a DOS BOX. It is only when I try to access it from explorer.

Hi Huhre,

If by DOS BOX you mean console command prompt then you problem is indeed strange.
I must wonder if problem is related to auto run functionality.

Please try few differend CD's in your drive. Also in explorer try right click and then explore option.

Slobodan
