Disable AutoRun CD-Rom does NOT always work

Hi All

I have disabled AutoRun for the CD-Rom via registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cdrom]
"AutoRun"=dword:00000000

It seems to work ALL of the time when I put an autorun CD, EXCEPT for
this testcase:
1) boot target system with AutoRun Disabled
2) place autorun cd into drive
Result: CD does not run (Expected Behavior)
3) toggle power off to CD-Rom with autorun cd in the drive
4) make sure CD-Rom Drive is not listed anymore under "My Computer"
5) toggle power back on to CD-Rom drive
Result: The drive will appear in "My Computer" but this time the CD
will AutoRun (Unexpected Behavior)

Is there another key that I am missing to change in the registry? Or
is this just how Windows XPe behaves?

thanks for your time

Hi BattleAngel444,

You could try disabling it through policy instead. You can do it by drive
letter or drive type. Take a look at this article....
