Explorer Crashes

I have a folder containing *.MPG files renamed for *.mod files, when I open
the foldr I get the 'eggtimer' then explorer crashes and sends error replort,
I am using the latest video drivers. I have other computers where I can open
these files and play them in Windows Media Player. If these files are
accessed directly from Power Director or other editing software all is O.K.
The files are therefore O.K is Windows Explorer which is the problem. Any
ideas please
Mike

I've seen this symptom with one specific version of the official DivX
decoder - Explorer was crashing sometimes before even opening the
file. However, you say your files are MPEGs, not AVIs. Still, based on
this observation, it may be useful to determine which CODEC is being
used to process these files, and force a different one (FFDSHOW, for
example).

HI bxf and thanks for the reply, after my request for assistance I downloaded
& installed the xp codec pack, this seems to have resolved the problem,
obviously you were on the right track.
Thanks Again
Mike
