Explorer crashes

Intermittently, on opening Win Explorer, I receive the following error
messages (copied from Event Viewer) -

1. Application popup: Explorer.EXE - Application Error : The instruction at
"0x77f57ec4" referenced memory at "0x00000067". The memory could not be
"written".

2. Application popup: Explorer.EXE - Application Error : The exception
unknown software exception (0xc015000f) occurred in the application at
location 0x77f6fca7.

When I click out of these, all icons on the desktop & the Taskbar disappear
for a few seconds, the screen is refreshed, icons & the Taskbar re-appear
but most applications running in the background do not appear in Systray
until logging off and back on.

There are a few references to this in Google, but no solution.

I'm running XP Pro, have just recently built a P4/2.8 system with new Asus
P4P800-E MOBO, matching RAM in dual slots 1,3.
Repair/reinstalled XP, installed SP1 & all Hotfixes.

I have no idea where to start on this one.

Thanks, Paul, that looks like it.
I think I'll tolerate it until SP2 is released as MS advises (unless it gets
worse, of course)
At least they do recognise it as a fault.
