Explorer causing error in OLE32.DLL

Hi Noel,

This is all starting to make me a bit nauseous. I tried to uninstall IE 6
before reinstalling Windows but it wouldn't let me - I only had the option to
repair it. Now it looks like I should just go crawl in a hole somewhere and
leave you guys alone.

I'd like yo try something first though - I saw on one of your links the
ability to run a System Restore from the command prompt.

Thanks!

(sorry - we can get a little carried away, sometimes!)
System Restore will not take you back before you reinstalled ME - and
therefore cannot fix your Version Soup problems.

You need to reinstall IE from scratch -
Such symptoms are frequently the result of mistakenly attempting to
reinstall ME over itself without first reverting back to IE5.5 - the
resulting 'Version Soup' is almost impossible to repair, and the only sure
way known is to completely remove IE and then reinstall whichever version
you require.

Instructions for this process are here
http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/ReInIE.htm

Please post back if you need more details - preferably before attempting the
process!!<g>

Hello Everyone,

You might be pleased to know that a "scanreg /restore" solves the problem,
at least during the current session. When I do either a restart or a shut
down and reboot, the problem comes back. I infer from what I've seen you
guys talking about, that uninstalling and reinstalling IE may solve the
problem permanently.

I will give that a try.

Once again, thank you all for your help (and your interesting comments).

Michael
