Hi!

Today, all of a sudden, my Explorer became VERY slow whenever I
right-clicked on a file or tried to delete one. When I found out that the
problem disappeared when I disabled my LAN connection, I installed a
personal firewall. That way, I found out that Windows Explorer calls
"crl.verisign.com" everytime I right-click on/try to delete a file or a
desktop icon or whatever, resulting in the context menu to be delayed a
significant amount of time or Explorer hanging when I try to delete a file.
Anyone has any idea what's going on here?

Regards,
Florian Hinz

See posts from earlier this morning and last night. This is somehow linked to having recently updated Norton Anti-virus. Some workarounds are described on these other pages (search for "right click"), and in my estimation NAV has partially fixed the problem w/ a LiveReg update available today. No official word though from Symantec on their website. I'd sit tight and see what solution works out in the next few days. Or you can figure out why NAV wants to contact verisign every time you right-click or open a Word document.

see other Right click post in all forums regarding 1/7/2004 and today.
Cross with Norton Antivirus.
All will be explained.

Cross with Norton Antivirus.

Just uninstalled NAV, and the problem is gone. :)

*goes looking for a _good_ antivirus software*

The performance loss you are experiencing appears to be
related to an expired VeriSign certificate. To work around
this issue, please deselect the "Check for publisher's
certificate revocation" option in your Advanced Internet
Options.
