Whenever I right click on start and click on explore to
veiw files my system jumps back to the desk top. I cannot
select a file to view.? Any answers? Can I reinstall
windows XP over itself to fix the problem?

Thanks

Reinstalling windows is *not* the first thing that should spring to mind
whenever you encounter a problem with XP. Or the second thing. "Work the
problem", as they say.

Your question is not clear about what exactly happens when you try to start
Explorer. By "my system jumps back to the desktop" you mean that Explorer
fails to start? Assuming that's the case what happens when you run Explorer
another way, like, for example, when you hold the "windows" key and then hit
the "e" key? You may not have a "windows" key if you have a brand Z keyboard
or a laptop in which case try start > run then type "explorer" and then
click on ok. One of these two things should run Explorer for you. If not
then something is not right. Come back to us.
