exploere closes when clicking or scrolling the mouse

Hi,

Does anyone know why the windows explorer closes when I
click on a folder in the left pane or scroll the mouse
wheel anywhere on the open window. There are no error
messages or warnings that explorer has performed illegal
function and will be shut down. It is almost as if I had
clicked on the X to close the program but did not.
