I have been running the beta spyware for about three
weeks and liked it very much. today I noticed it is no
longer running. When I click on the icon it says "This
version of Microsoft Antispyware has expired as of July
31, 2005. Whats going on here...its only February 11th
right now.

I redownloaded and installed it and got the same message
when I tried to run it. My computer/windows date is
correct.

Check the area in Control Panel where date formats (long and short) are set
for your locale. Set the formats to the very first choice in the dropdown
control.

Yours is an atypical presentation of this issue, but I suspect the fix will
be the same.

Bill;
FWIW
"Set the *formats* to the very first choice in the dropdown .."

I'm not having a problem with my short date set as "yy-MM-dd" vs. "1st choice" =
"dd/MM/yyyy".
My Long date is as instructed.
I'm running Win2kPro, would the dropdown order be different?

The "About->Diagnostics" = "Session.TimeBombExpirationDate: 05-07-31"
(I hate that *timebomb* ref, "Sunset Date" would have a much nicer ring to it:).

I don't know what the bounds of this bug are.

There are a good many posts from folks who install and then can't run
because it comes up already expired, so, we give the cited advice and they
are good.

However, in this case, it seems to have expired after functioning for three
weeks--so it looks like theres an intermediate case where folks can install
and run for a bit then something overflows and bang.

I'd love to hear from a VB programmer what the likely issue is here--it is
probably something not too difficult to spot, but I have never done Windows
programming and don't know how to spot what the boundary conditions are
that'll trigger this one.
