Expired Security Certificate

When I attempt to access the website for a credit card, I
receive a pop-up stating that the site security
certificate is not yet valid or has expired. The
certificate shows as having expired in December, 2003.

I contacted the tech people for the website and they told
me that I needed to update my browser or contact my ISP
in order to correct the problem.

I checked the Control Panel. My computer does accept
automatic updates of Root Certificates. My system clock
is set to the correct date (and in any case, I'm only
having a problem with the one site - so far).

My browser is current (updated from Microsoft Windows
Updates last week). The problem actually started after I
applied the updates.

I know nothing about security certificates or how to
update them. Assuming that there is a more recent
certificate (and assuming that the problem can't be on
the website's side since they say it isn't) how do I go
about updating the certificate?

Thanks in advance

If I am reading this correctly, you were told that the website's digital
certificate, dated December 2003, is still valid even though the current
year is 2004?

IMO, that makes no sense. It is up to the website administrator to make
sure that the web servers have the most up to date certificate when
communicating to clients.

You may need to contact the website support staff again and have them look
into their server settings.
