Expanding screen from preview screen

When I double click on an email subject on preview screenin OUtlook Espress,
I do not get a full screen but a miniature screen opens at bottom, I then
have to maximize the miniature screeen to get the full screen. This started
about a week ago and I cannot figure out how to correct it.
