Existing Domain into a subdomian of an Existing Domain

We are trying to make our domain a subdomain of our parent
company. In a test environment we setup an NT 4.0 server
as a BDC and then took the 2000 server off-line. Upgraded
the 4.0 server to a 2000 Domain controller during the
install as a subdomain of our parent company. It worked
fine but all PC and servers in the original Domain no
longer authenticate to it. You have to re-add them to the
Domain. Is there a way around this?

Once a WIndows 2000 or XP client talks to a Kerberos based domain
controller it will never talk to a non-kerberos DC again (NT4). To
prevent this you need to add the NT4Emulator value to the registry of
any 2000/2003 domain controller until you have finished the upgrade.
