.exe is not a valid win32 application

I have 3 computers networked in a peer to peer configuration with a hub. The server is running win xp home. The other two workstations are running win 98. I have a medical software program called ez bis (network version) installed. The 2 work stations can access the ez bis but when i try to open it on the server i get an error: ezbis\ezbis.exe is not a valid win32 application. Ez bis support says their software is working since the work stations run it fine. They say the problem is with windows. I have tried uninstalling ez bis and reloading it with no change and i even reformatted the hard drive and did a clean reinstall of win xp home but the error persists. Ez bis says i nedd to upgrade to win xp pro . Any ideas?

Try compatibility mode. From the server desktop, right click the shortcut for
EZ Bis, select Properties then Compatibility tab. Check the "Run this program
in compatibility mode for" box, then select Windows 98 in the pull down box.
Hit Apply. Cross your fingers.

Cheers,

If they say that XP Pro is required, it may be that it
can only communicate over NetBEUI, rather than TCP/IP.
What do the software requirements state? I know that out
of the box, NetBEUI is not supported on the Home version,
but you could probably get it installed with a little
effort. Check the web (or another post) for help on
this, since I've never done it.

Don't know if this helps, but let us know.

Thanks, Jack

NetBEUI isn't supported by default in Pro either, and I believe you can
install it on either version.

Ezbis website seems to suggest you need Pro for the Remote Desktop feature.
Seems odd as Win98 doesn't have Remote Desktop. And either way I don't know
why that would cause an invalid win32 app error.
